Purchasing Gear
New Gear in Ithaca:
Cayuga Ski and Cyclery: website
Local ski/bike shop that carries all equipment necessary. This equipment is new and market price. However, they are a good option to get gear ASAP, or even to go to just for advice on sizing/equipment. They also provide tuning, waxing, and repair services.
New Gear in Binghamton (~1 hour away from Ithaca):
Berger's Ski and Snowboard: website
Although slightly further away, a great option for new equipment. You can also go to them for sizing/advice. They provide tuning, waxing, and repair services as well.
Used Gear:
If you have a season's pass or you plan on skiing frequently, purchasing new or used equipment may be a good option. Many websites sell used skis, snowboards, and boots in good condition at heavily discounted prices. Be sure to contact the seller first and check over the skis before buying them to ensure no significant damage exists. It is always better to buy used skis from a ski shop which can verify the condition of the bases, bindings, and top sheets with a numerical rating system before purchasing. The same is true for snowboards. The following are a list of online equipment resources.
SidelineSwap:
Equipment often sold by ski shops and resort demo centers. Offers good buyer protection.
Powder7:
All equipment is verified by the website and rated rigorously on a 10 point scale.
Geartrade:
Wide range of used outdoor gear, quality is reviewed by website.
